POLYCONTROL is an app and sensory installation that was created to educate consumers on the negative effects of synthetic materials in the fashion industry. In collaboration with Harvey Nichols and launched through an interactive feature, the aim of my installation is to provoke consumers by stimulating their senses in an unconventional way. The POLYCONTROL app will present customers with innovative ways to care for their clothes and limit the microfibre pollution emitted into our oceans. Within the app there will also be an option for users to shop the ‘POLY-FREE edit’, which is a curated selection of clothes and accessories from Harvey Nichols that are synthetic free. The purpose of this body of work is to highlight the importance of limiting the consumption of synthetic materials through a marriage of industry action and consumer education.
Here is the prototype of the app I created for Harvey Nichols, it was designed and mocked up using Adobe XD.
To visualise my idea for the installation I used Sketch Up to produce a mock up space. It represents the lower ground floor 1 located in Harvey Nichols' Knightsbridge store.
